Changes to AirsoftFix Indoor Games

Postby Kyle » Tue Mar 26, 2013 12:07 am

Hi everyone!

Just a quick update on some changes that are being made to the AirsoftFix indoor games:

Wristband Entry System
We will be issuing wristbands to players to expedite the check-in process, and allow us to do a quick visual verification that players have been properly checked in.

Players can purchase wristbands in advance at AirsoftFix for any future indoor game date. Refunds will only be given before the start date/time of the event: no-shows will not receive a refund.

When you purchase the wristband, we will make sure we have a waiver on file for you, and record the wristband's unique number in our system. When you arrive, we will have an express line for people that already have wristbands on - we will enter the number into the system, see that you are good to go, and you're in!

Within a few weeks, we will have barcoded wristbands that will make the process even faster!

Expedited Chrono Process
Two chronographs will be set up before the doors open, and will be configured so that rounds fired through the chrono do not interfere with gameplay. Players will hand all guns to an AirsoftFix employee, who will ensure it is fired through the chrono properly.

On the Field Faster
As soon as twenty players have passed chrono, they will be assigned to Group A, split into two teams, and take the field for a simple force-on-force game. By the time they are done, enough players should have passed chrono to form Group B, and then any remaining players will be assigned to the two groups until they have approximately even numbers.

Larger Play Area, 3-hour Events
All four courts will be used as the active play area, and we will continue playing as two groups, which should de-compress players a bit and allow for more flexible objectives/game types. Due to cost issues, we have had to balance the cost of renting the 4th court against the time and reduced the duration of the events to 3 hours each. Players should still see more trigger time than a regular outdoor game due to the two-groups system.

More Ref Coverage, Player Honesty Testing
There will be two refs on the field at all times.

Refs will be armed, and will randomly "test" players by shooting them when the player would not expect the ref to do so. If the player does not call the hit, they will be ejected from the current game and made to sit out the next round. Players that repeatedly fail honesty testing will be ejected from the event without a refund, with the possibility of being banned from future games. This is a common practice at many established indoor fields in the US - when I played at Tac City in LA a few weeks ago, there were NO instances of players not calling hits in the 3+ hours I was there, with at least 70 players on hand at any given time.

SCHEDULE CHANGES
We had to modify the schedule so that we could run all four courts, and give us enough time before we take to the field to get everything set up.

Saturday, 4/6/13
This game is now on Sunday, 4/7/13, and player check-in opens at 8:30PM.

Wednesday, 4/10/13
This game is cancelled. We could not get 4 courts, and it's only 2 days away from the previous indoor game and next outdoor game.

Wednesdays, 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 2013
At all of these games, player check-in is now 7:00PM. It was previously listed as 6:30PM.

Wednesday 5/29/13
Player check-in is now 8:30PM. It was previously listed as 6:30PM.

June Games
June indoor games will likely remain on Wednesday nights, but at 8:30PM due to other events happening in the Sports Pavilion before we come in.

July Games
July games will most likely happen on Tuesday nights. I'd like to shuffle the day of the week every month or so to allow players that have strict work schedules or other commitments that can't always make it.

I don't play there, but maybe when a ref "tests" somebody and the person is honest, they should tell the person and let them back in the game, because I know I would be kind of mad to get out when no player actually got me.
Die well, or don't die at all, I prefer the latter.

We should be able to have players go back to the starting point and start over again. All of the indoor games are no-respawn to keep things moving quickly between the two playing groups, and so we don't have to waste space on a respawn area for each team.

My team is down. As soon as we get a new uniform established for the indoor games we will be there. If you need us for refs or anything let me know. We just got back from a long business trip and were all pretty stoked to play. Did anything else change, like entry fee?

Still $15. We aren't scheduling any indoor games for June, and may skip July as well (we've had fairly poor turnout as the weather has improved, and have lost money hosting these so far). We will likely pick it up again in August, but it may have to go back to late nights as the sports center is heavily used earlier in the evening.
