11/13/13: All Airsoft activities at the Menard Center Woods in Wasilla are temporarily suspended until further notice.

Here's what's going on:
- There was a clerical error with our proof of insurance paperwork for the period of June 2013 - June 2014. I have requested another copy from our insurance company and will forward it to the City of Wasilla as soon as it's received. They were under the impression that we were running games uninsured - there have been some personnel changes at the City in the last year and apparently the fact that we are insured was not passed along.

- There have been a few instances of non-players reporting us to the Menard Center management (think people walking along the trails around the back side of the field). We also apparently alarmed a few people that were at the holiday bazaar during last weekend's game.

Here's how I am working to resolve this:
- Most of you do not know this, but I have been working behind-the-scenes in the past few months to "spin off" Airsoft Alaska from AirsoftFix in the form of a non-profit organization. Neither I, nor any AirsoftFix employee, would hold a decision-making position within this new organization. This allows for more community involvement in how things are run, and removes the burden of organizing games from mine and Phil's shoulders. Under the new organization, community members would be able to become certified to host games in a safe manner, so there will be much more flexibility in when games are hosted. Right now, if Phil or I can't make it to a game, we don't schedule one for that weekend (i.e. around SHOT Show or if Phil is out of town and I'm busy, or vice versa).

- I just had a conversation with the Facility Supervisor at the Menard Center (the same one where they told me there was a moratorium on Airsoft activities until further notice), and I will be meeting the Facility Supervisor before the end of this month to determine what the City of Wasilla's requirements will be. From our initial conversation, it sounds like the City is interested in making our field area more permanent and purpose-built for our use (good!), but they are looking for a usage fee (not so good!), but are flexible on how much the fee will be (good again!). The good news is, by turning Airsoft Alaska into a genuine non-profit entity, we open a lot of doors for fundraising that are normally closed for for-profit LLCs like AirsoftFix (i.e. tax-deductible donations).

To Clarify:
- This is NOT the end of Airsoft games at the Menard Center. The City is being very reasonable and is willing to work with us, but a few things have to change (i.e. making our field perimeter more secure, and establishing better communication between the Airsoft community and the City). In suspending our games at this time, I believe the City is taking an appropriate action to the situation in front of them: they can't find our proof of insurance, and they have had multiple "soft complaints" about our activities. They are only asking that we stop for now until we can resolve both of those issues. The insurance issue should be resolved by the end of the week, as it's just paperwork, but it may be January or February before games can resume at the Menard Center Woods.

If there are any questions, please post them here and I'll answer them. Thanks everyone!
