AEG maintenance

Postby ECABoss » Wed Mar 20, 2013 10:28 am

So what kind of things do you do to your AEG to make it last longer? Like, what kind of cleaning and maintenance do you do to your gun regularly to keep it from breaking?

Honestly, the best thing i have found to make your gun last the longest (aside from regular barrel cleaning and bore swabbing) is just to not mess with it internally unless you absolutely know what you are doing. I typically shy away from upgrades until my gun quits on its own.

Don't dive bomb into a ditch with it........ be carefull, don't let other people borrow it unless you know you can trust them.

I think the guy was asking for more basic maintenance tips.

See link, though I generally don't spray directly into the hop up or my mags.

Ahh, that was only the title. YOU asked "What do you do to make it LAST LONGER." I answered but the first sentence, leaving the rest un-accounted for, so in the end, I was right. Considering I did leave a bit un-accounted for, try cleaning and greasing your mech box a lot. Also take apart the externals down to the receiver after every outdoor game and let them dry for a while as they all usually wind up wet when it is cold out, so disassemble to avoid rusting. TIP: Berries. When playing outdoors, keep out of any wild berry bushes as the acid contained in many erodes the paint and finish off the gun, as we found out with a blued 30'06.

You know me though... I'm not really the one who usually goes trompin' through the bushes.

Well you said that you've learned from experience hunting not to tromp through berry bushes

You are going to have to move around some. Unless you want to be a cheapskate.
