play at a diferent site?

Postby Controlled01 » Wed Jul 31, 2013 9:35 pm

so far all the games I've seen this year have been at the repp road location. that place is cool but is there any interest in using alternative locations? A couple guys and myself are planning a game out at the chatanika dredge if anyone is interested I will have a date posted when we are sure what day we can go out. Aside from chatanika does anyone know of anywhere else we can play? I know a couple unused bits of property that I've played at in the past and if people are interested I can go and look to see if they are still abandoned.

Abandoned or not, you might want to find out who owns it - it can be important.
If you put a location linked to google maps I can look up for you who owns it (I've done it for a job for over 4 years now).
It looks like most of the dredged area itself is owned by John Reeves (whom I think I know personally).
The major lots to the south of it are state land, and we could use it. North of the dredge is mostly privately owned and owned by UAF. East of the road is mostly owned by Fairbanks Gold Company.
Just FYI.

I understand what you mean about finding out who owns the land but i have never had an issue with people. they usually just ask us to leave if they are not comfortable with us being around.

as far as the dredge is concerned I can't imagine anyone carring weather we use it. that place has been used by anybody for dam near anything for literally generations now, I know my father used to party out there when he was in college.

You guys may want to consider the missile site out by Eielson, we played there last year and it was great. All you need to do is go by the main office, one person gets a certificate that will allow you to go up there, so when a security person shows up it shows we have permission to be there. It doesn't take very long and we never had a problem before. I know when i mentioned this to some of the other guys they said they didn't want to have to get the written waivers for the players that are under 18, but with the number of players we have been having so far I believe the games we could play would be awesome. You can see some pics of the site we play at in the pics section of the forums. I posted a bunch.

Well I am looking forward to playing at a new site.
Also, do you guys want me to start looking for another permanent site for just Airsoft for late this year and all next year? I have he proper documentation all lined up and a few places to go check out as potential spots. We could get a few truck, some nails and hammers and pick up a bunch of free wood from Craigslist and build our own structures, maybe even a few small buildings on our new spot.

the dredge was lit on fire this weekend. I will do some recon soon but I doubt there will be any reason to expect to be able to play there... there is not enough camomile tea to quell the rage in my heart.

Hey guys, I'm back up here... Any interest in a game at the Nike Missile Site? Might be a safer location for the fall considering it'll be moose season. I'll go do some recce up there this weekend to see if it's all still there.

Can you give me a google earth location or directions so I can look up who owns the missile site?

US gov. owns it, it's in the Yukon training area. To get authorized access all I need to do is call ahead to ensure no training is taking place, and have my RAP card on hand in case a range officer comes by. My RAP has been sufficient enough to represent the whole group in the past.

So, do you have to go through the base to get there?
What are the directions? I can't find anywhere that these lands are open to the public at any time, for any reason.
